Project Overview
The transformation of the Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi Auditorium at Persistent Systems Limited’s Hinjewadi headquarters is a monumental merger of corporate scale and cinematic immersion. This landmark project redefined the venue into a world-class B2B communication hub, designed to be the crown jewel of the client’s infrastructure. At its heart lies a gargantuan 500-inch Samsung Active LED Video Wall, delivering a native 4K resolution with 16-bit processing. This visual marvel is supported by a sophisticated dual-topology acoustic architecture, combining flagship JBL line arrays for speech clarity with a 30-speaker cinema surround soundscape. Integrated with AI-driven tracking cameras and restriction-free windowing via a Datapath processing backbone, the auditorium serves as a professional-grade broadcast environment capable of hosting everything from global town halls to high-impact brand storytelling.
What did the client want to achieve?
Persistent Systems Limited envisioned a venue that transcended the limitations of a traditional corporate hall. They required a world-class architectural statement capable of functioning as a hybrid environment: a high-density powerhouse for global town halls, complex data visualisations, and premier cinematic storytelling. The primary objective was to eliminate the “visual washout” common in large-volume spaces and bridge the gap between “dry” vocal intelligibility for conferencing and “rich” immersion for professional cinematic content. The client sought a solution that offered seamless scalability—supporting up to 64 simultaneous video windows—while remaining simple enough for a single operator to manage via a unified control interface. Ultimately, they wanted a sustainable, future-proof asset that established a new benchmark for corporate excellence in the APAC region.
Scope of work your company was involved in
We provided comprehensive, end-to-end integration services, from structural engineering to long-term maintenance. Our scope included the architectural design of a 11.7-metre structural niche to support a 1.3-ton LED wall, the deployment of a 500-inch primary display, and dual 135-inch balcony feedback displays. We engineered a layered audio ecosystem including stereo line arrays and 30 cinema surround speakers, alongside an AI-driven broadcast capture system using auto-framing PTZ cameras. We implemented the entire switching backbone, including 8K-ready processors and a unified Crestron control environment. Furthermore, our involvement extended to developing a robust Continuity Plan and Preventive Maintenance strategy, involving heat-map monitoring and firmware management to ensure the auditorium remains a sustainable, high-performance business asset.
What key challenges were faced?
The project presented significant structural and technical hurdles that pushed the boundaries of standard corporate AV. Supporting the 1.3-ton Samsung LED wall was an immense task, requiring a precision-engineered niche to support the 1,296kg load while maintaining a perfectly flush architectural finish. Managing the massive thermal dynamics was equally daunting, as the 500-inch wall generates a maximum heat output of 73,680 BTU, risking component failure without specialized ventilation. Technically, managing a high-density 12×8 signal matrix with massive throughput for 8K-ready signals without latency was a significant bottleneck. Additionally, we had to address “visual dead zones” for attendees in the upper balcony tiers and the acoustic challenge of balancing speech clarity with deep cinematic immersion in a single massive space.
How were those challenges resolved?
We resolved structural challenges by engineering a reinforced, 100mm-deep niche capable of supporting the massive visual anchor. Thermal risks were mitigated through a high-efficiency ventilation strategy integrated into the niche to dissipate the 73,680 BTU of heat generated during continuous use. To eliminate visual “dead zones,” we installed two secondary 135-inch balcony LED walls with a finer 1.5mm pixel pitch, ensuring text clarity for elevated tiers. Signal bottlenecks were resolved using a Datapath VSN-V3 processor and a Crestron DM-NVX network, enabling restriction-free placement of up to 64 simultaneous video windows. Finally, the acoustic challenge was mastered via a hybrid design using JBL Image Control Technology and wave-shaping vanes to sculpt a soundscape that delivers both precision pattern control and 360-degree immersion.
How has your work helped the client?
Our work transformed the client’s facility into a high-impact communication powerhouse that rivals professional broadcast studios. The auditorium now enables Persistent Systems to host complex global events where live presenters and remote data feeds coexist on a single, seamless 4K canvas, significantly enhancing executive decision-making and brand storytelling. The AI-driven auto-framing cameras have revolutionized their broadcast capabilities, allowing high-quality capture without the need for manual operators. Furthermore, our robust Preventive Maintenance and Continuity Plan has protected their long-term ROI by proactively managing firmware, cable integrity, and thermal stability. This facility has not only met their operational needs but has also established a prestigious, world-class standard for their global corporate identity.
What are you most proud of about the project?
We are most proud of the seamless harmony between monumental scale and operational simplicity. Successfully integrating a 500-inch 4K LED canvas—one of the largest in corporate APAC—with an 80-channel mixing console and a 30-speaker cinema surround system is a rare engineering achievement. However, our true pride lies in the “intelligence” of the space; through a single Crestron touch screen, an operator can trigger complex presets that reorganize 64 video windows, adjust immersive lighting, and track presenters with AI precision. We delivered a sustainable broadcast environment that proves massive scale does not have to mean massive complexity for the end-user. We have created a facility that empowers our client to communicate with the world with unprecedented clarity and impact.
